Peer Review Process
Loquēla (Journal of Linguistics, Literature, and Education) uses a rigorous double-blind peer review process. All manuscripts submitted to this journal must align with its scope, focus, and author guidelines. Manuscripts should demonstrate scientific excellence or significant novelty, contributing to the field. Submissions are required to be free from plagiarism, and authors are encouraged to check their work using plagiarism detection software before submission. Editors will verify the originality of submissions using Turnitin.
1. Initial Editorial Screening
After submission, manuscripts go through an initial editorial screening to ensure they fit the journal’s scope and follow author guidelines. This process takes approximately 1 week. Manuscripts that fail this screening will either be returned to the authors for correction or rejected outright.
2. Peer Review Process
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent for peer review. Each submission is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers selected for their expertise. This process focuses on originality, methodological rigor, clarity, and relevance. The peer review process typically takes 2-3 weeks.
3. Revisions
After receiving feedback from reviewers, authors are asked to revise their manuscripts. Revisions are classified as major or minor. Authors are given 1-2 weeks to complete the revisions. The editorial team may request a second round of review if necessary, based on the scope of the revisions.
4. Final Decision and Copyediting
Once the revised manuscript is resubmitted, the editor makes the final decision. If accepted, the manuscript moves to the copyediting stage. The final decision and copyediting take approximately 1-2 weeks.
5. Final Publication
Accepted manuscripts are published online as "in-progress" articles within 1 week of acceptance. These articles are assigned a DOI and are indexed. When the full issue is completed, the articles are incorporated into the final volume. The average time from submission to publication is 8-12 weeks.
Other Considerations
Ethical Standards: All manuscripts must adhere to the highest ethical standards. Authors must declare any potential conflicts of interest, and manuscripts involving human or animal subjects must include appropriate ethical approval. The journal expects all research to comply with applicable ethical guidelines.
Plagiarism Detection: Manuscripts will be checked for plagiarism using Turnitin. Authors are encouraged to use plagiarism detection software before submission to ensure that their work is original.
ORCID: Authors and reviewers are encouraged to use ORCID iD to ensure proper attribution and visibility in the academic community. Including ORCID IDs allows for a transparent and traceable record of contributions.
Clear Rejection Criteria: Manuscripts may be rejected at any stage if they are found to be outside the journal’s scope, fail to meet basic quality standards, or contain significant ethical violations.
