Publishing Model

Loquēla (Journal of Linguistics, Literature, and Education) implements a continuous publication model. This means that all accepted papers are promptly posted on the Open Journal System (OJS) platform. This model ensures rapid dissemination of research findings, allowing readers to access the latest research without waiting for a complete issue. Articles posted in this manner are considered in-progress articles and have undergone the journal’s peer-review process. However, they may undergo minor revisions until they are formally included in a finalized issue or volume.

Once the article has been reviewed and finalized, it will be assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) to ensure long-term accessibility and stability. All articles published in Loquēla are made available through an Open Access model, meaning they can be accessed by anyone without any restrictions.

Articles posted early online as "in-progress" are indexed and archived in trusted repositories, ensuring they remain accessible even if updates are made. When the final version is published in a full volume, the article will not undergo further changes, ensuring that readers always access the same version of the article with its assigned DOI.

Publication Schedule

Loquēla publishes two issues per year. Complete volumes are released in May and November. All articles published within these volumes are thoroughly reviewed and finalized before their official release. Articles that are made available as "in-progress" online are fully integrated into the final issue of the respective volume.

Timeline for Regular Issues

The typical timeline for regular issues in Loquēla is designed to ensure timely processing from submission to publication, while adhering to rigorous peer-review standards. The estimated average publication time is approximately 8-12 weeks from submission to final publication. The following is the detailed breakdown:

  • Call for Papers: Ongoing throughout the year. Manuscripts can be submitted anytime, but authors are encouraged to submit at least 1-2 months before the release of the target issue (May or November).
  • Initial Editorial Screening (1 week):
    • Once submitted, the manuscript is screened by the editorial team to ensure it meets the journal’s scope, formatting guidelines, and ethical standards.
    • Manuscripts that pass the screening are sent for peer review.
  • Peer Review Process (2-3 weeks):
    • Manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process, where at least two external reviewers evaluate the submission for originality, rigor, and relevance.
    • Reviews are typically completed within 2-3 weeks, after which feedback is provided to the authors.
  • Revision Process (1-2 weeks):
    • Authors are given a specific deadline (typically 1-2 weeks) to address reviewer comments and submit the revised manuscript.
    • The revision deadline is set to ensure timely feedback, while still giving authors sufficient time to make necessary changes.
  • Final Decision and Copyediting (1-2 weeks):
    • Once revisions are submitted, the manuscript is reassessed by the editor and/or reviewers to ensure all feedback has been adequately addressed.
    • After final acceptance, the manuscript undergoes copyediting to ensure clarity and adherence to journal formatting standards.
  • Final Publication (within 1 week):
    • After the final copyediting stage, the manuscript is published online as an "in-progress" article. This allows for rapid dissemination of the research, without waiting for the full issue’s completion.
    • Once the full issue is finalized in May or November, the article is fully integrated into the completed volume.

Based on this timeline, the average publication process from submission to online publication is approximately 8-12 weeks, depending on the responsiveness of authors during the revision process and the complexity of the manuscript. This model allows for flexibility while maintaining a structured schedule to ensure timely publication of high-quality research.
